The War on Trevor – Coming Soon!

The War on Trevor – Coming soon!!
The War on Trevor (WOT) is a narrative piece of music depicting the plights of a luckless London lad whose life unravels in 1 day. Drawing on recent incidents of Jean Charles de Menezes, who was killed by police when he was misidentified as a bomber – and Moazzam Begg, the British Pakistani imprisoned  for being suspected as a terrorist, the WOT speculates on the emerging Kafka-esque reality of trying to live in a culture increasingly disabled by fear and retribution.  Musically, the WOT is a mix of guitar interludes, accordion, double bass, cello, drums and clarinet with 4 song sections – ‘The Miranda Warning’, ‘Signal Failure’, ‘The Shami Chakrabarti Blues’ and ‘The Banks of the Arghandab’. We never hear Trevor or ascertain his guilt or innocence. Instead, Trevor is mute, blank slate on which various people project their phobias, pathologies and revenge. The WOT is not Gillespie’s 3rd album. It is a project awarded by the Female composer/songwriter launched by the PRS.
